Apple Launched a Live Video Shopping Feature Called “Shop with a Specialist”

Apple launched Shop with a Specialist - a video chat for shopping

Apple recently announced a revolutionary online shopping method called “Shop with a Specialist.” It is simply a live video shopping experience on the Apple.com website. Any customers who can connect with an Apple Expert need personalized support or guidance. During the video call, customers can browse the latest iPhone models, compare features, and have all their questions answered in real-time. It’s worth noting that this feature is currently only available for iPhone sales in the US online store.

How does “Shop with a Specialist” work?

The “Shop with a Specialist” feature lets customers connect with an Apple team member for live video shopping assistance. The service is available from 7 am to 7 pm for US customers looking to buy an iPhone.

If you want to try it, you can access it at apple.com/shop/buy-iphone.

When you’re on a video call with an Apple expert, they’ll have their camera on so you can see them. They can also share their screen with you to help answer any questions. And your camera will be turned off during the call so you can relax and enjoy the experience!

What does Apple expect with its new live video shopping feature?

Personalized Customer Experience:

Apple is known for going above and beyond to provide personalized customer service and guidance. So whether you’re in one of their physical stores or shopping online, you can always expect top-notch support from the Apple team. But sometimes, getting that same level of service online is hard. Remember when people used to line up to buy iPhones in stores? Now, most people order online instead. But Apple still wants to give you that personalized touch, even if you’re not in the store. That’s why they offer video calls with their retail experts. So you can still get one-on-one help without going into the store.

Other brands are also implementing similar features, which is expected to become a significant trend in 2023.

With so much competition, brands must offer seamless in-person and online customer experiences. Apple is an excellent example of a brand that’s really good at this.

Increasing Revenue:

Smartphone sales dropped by 11% in 2022, the lowest in almost ten years. Still, Samsung is the top seller, with 22% of the market compared to Apple’s 19%.

Apple’s primary purpose is to increase the sales of its iPhone. So they launched a new “Shop with a Specialist” feature alongside the yellow iPhone 14 and 14 Plus versions to achieve this. This feature is expected to increase conversion rates by up to 10 times and increase the average order size through cross-selling and upselling by 3 times.

Apple plans to leverage one-on-one video chats to convert more Android users. Migrating from Android to iOS is a relatively complex process compared to switching phones. And Apple has stated that its sales specialists will provide support and guidance to ease the transition to iOS.

Ultimately, Apple expects the new feature to directly impact iPhone sales.
